Library Substitute
We are not currently seeking any library substitutes, but check back for future job postings.
We prefer candidates who have at least 1 year of previous library experience. We are especially interested in candidates who are familiar with the Bibliovation ILS and who have a flexible schedule.
The Library is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Shelver Position
We are not currently seeking any shelvers, but check back for future job postings.
Do you have an eye for detail and like organizing? If you are self-motivated and take pride in a job done well, then apply to be a Shelver. The Stoughton Public Library periodically seeks Shelvers to put away library materials.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and be able to work 3-hour shifts during library hours.
Volunteer at the Library
We are not currently seeking new adult volunteers.
If you'd like to volunteer at the library when we have openings in the future, please fill out an application (Word or PDF) and turn it in at one of our service desks. We evaluate potential adult volunteers on an ongoing, as-needed basis.
Teens looking for a summer volunteer opportunity, please stop by the Children's Department on or before April 15 of the year you wish to volunteer. Teen volunteers must be in grades 7-12 (or entering 7th grade in the upcoming fall).
For more details, see our Volunteer Policy.
Practicum or Capstone Library School Students
We love to work with library school students who need hands-on library experience as they complete their Masters in Library and Information Science degree! We have experience hosting students from nearby universities, as well as students who live locally but are earning their degree via distance learning from an out-of-state school. Stoughton is located about 20 miles southeast of Madison, WI.
